Discover the story behind Lori’s art

Early in Lori’s painting career she accidentally painted a heart in one of her paintings. She then decided to hide hearts in all of her paintings. She wanted people to feel love as they hunt for the hearts. Then when Ollie came along she thought how fun it would be for kids to hunt for hearts on the pages of the books, and was she ever correct! Kids love hunting for them and it keeps their attention as the book is read to them. She always tells the kids that the hearts are to show how loved they are.

Lori is also a watercolor and mixed media artist. Although you will see Ollie and characters mostly on this site, she also sells prints of her original work, especially all those lovely birds.

They make their home in the mountains of northern Arizona in a little town called Payson. Lori has four grandchildren all together, Sebastian, Jennie, Jack, and Josiah. She loves Arizona and has Ollie live in the desert while she is in the tall pines. She plans on writing books for curriculum. Ollie is going to be visiting many places and teaching children about them. It should be a delightful series always with the playful personality that Ollie has.
